The Visual Communication Department of the National College of Art and Design in Dublin (NCAD) asked us to create three posters for their end of year show. We used large printed boards, with Polaroid photos pinned to them.
The first in the series is an introduction to the Department, which is located on the first floor of the design building in NCAD. The second is a series of self-portraits by the graduating students (we left the camera in the waiting room as they were being adjudicated). The brief for the third and final poster was to answer the question: ‘What is Visual Communication?’ On the morning that the show opened, we walked from our studio to the college, taking 48 polaroids along the way. Each of the images shows an example of visual communication in one form or another.
